When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life you have a thousand reasons to smile.

smile quote

As you go through life, you’ll quickly learn that it has its ups and downs. Everyone will see their fair share of good times and bad times. When you go through the bad times, they can be so overwhelming and discouraging that you’re unable to really enjoy the good times when they come. There are a few things to remember when it comes to life.

Express gratitude daily

Oftentimes, life flows in waves. There will time periods of grief after losing a loved one or a job. There will be times of joy when a child graduates from college or you experience a new year of marital bliss. Keep your heart open for whatever life may bring. There will always be something to be grateful for. Even if you have to search high and low for something, it’s important to be intentional about expressing gratitude. So, if your family oral care provider says that braces are vital for all three of your kids and you’re tempted to shed tears at the thought of scheduling visits to see the orthodontist, be grateful that your children are alive, healthy and happy. Be grateful that you’re alive to be able to enjoy their smiles. Be grateful there is a way to improve their smiles in the long run. It’s all about perspective. This might also be a chance for you to improve your own smile with the Invisalign you’ve always wanted.
A positive mindset is healthy fuel for the journey of life. It will get you where you want to go a lot faster than a negative attitude will. Don’t think too hard about what could potentially go wrong. It’s important to prepare for anything, but don’t brace yourself for the negative. When you think you have a bunch of reasons to cry and be upset, these tactics will help you smile and be grateful for the good blessings in your life. Besides, now, you and your children will be able to smile proudly with Invisalign, braces and new orthodontist.

Nothing Shakes a Smiling Heart When You Have Straighter Teeth

A poet from Nepal believes that nothing will shake a smiling heart, but you might not want to smile when your teeth are spaced too far apart. The best time to wear braces is when you are a child because teeth will shift quickly in the softer bones inside your mouth. However, if you were not able to visit an orthodontist as a child, then it is never too late to straighten your teeth. For mild malocclusions, you can wear Invisalign aligners that are made of comfortable plastic. These devices are clear, and your friends at work will not know that the items are inside your mouth.

You Can Have Wires and Brackets Placed On the Backs of Your Teeth

When you have serious misalignments of your teeth, an orthodontist will want you to wear braces instead of aligners. With ceramic or metal brackets and wires, your teeth are going to shift into the correct positions in two to four years. If you are worried about how your smile will look, then select lingual devices that are worn on the backs of your teeth where almost no one can see the items. Lingual orthodontic treatment is appropriate for any age group, and it is easy to have the wires tightened.

What Are the Signs That Braces May Be Needed?

bracesMillions of people in the United States wear braces, even some celebrities. If you are thinking about getting braces, you should know that you are not alone. Your orthodontist may have suggested that you undergo metal bracket treatment or an alternative form of alignment correction. The following are some signs that you do need the treatment. You may want to consider signing up for it if any of the symptoms apply to you:

Tooth Crowding

Crowding is a condition that occurs when a person has a small mouth because of a genetic disposition. All of the person’s adult teeth emerge when they are supposed to, but they have no place to go. These teeth end up coming in behind or in front of other teeth instead of next to them. Crowding can also occur when baby teeth do not come out for one reason or another. Crowding sufferers are often self-conscious about their condition. If this is you, then the brackets can help you. Your orthodontist may be able to remove a few teeth first and then set your brackets.

An Uneven Smile

You may notice an uneven smile when you take pictures. You may not notice that your smile is uneven until you see your pictures. The unevenness could be due to your misalignment that you have. Brackets can help to return your smile to perfection so that you do not feel uncomfortable when it comes time for graduation shots, wedding pictures and the like.

Difficulty Biting Down or Chewing Food

You may notice that you have difficulty when you try to bite down on certain foods, and your chewing may be complicated. A set of brackets may be just what you need to get a firm bite so that you can enjoy some of the tastiest foods.

Cheek and Mouth Sores

A common problem that happens to people who need brackets is that they incur sores on the insides of their cheeks and the roof of their mouths. The sores come after the person accidentally scrapes the area during eating or talking. Sometimes the teeth are so out of alignment that they rub the areas and causes the sores.

Overbite and Under Bites

Overbites are situations in which the upper row of teeth extends over the lower row of teeth. Under bites occur when the bottom row of teeth overlap the upper row of teeth. Brackets are a wonderful solution for both problems.

Large Gaps

Large gaps can occur in the mouth for many reasons. They occur when patients have accidents and fights, but they also occur when patients have their teeth extracted because of decay.

Angled Teeth

Some people have conditions that are so bad that the teeth point outward. If this is the case with your teeth, then you will want to schedule an appointment for some orthodontic advice. Brackets can help to boost your self-esteem and confidence as well as restore your teeth to perfection.

The Benefits of Getting Treatment

Many benefits come with getting alignment correction devices. One of the main benefits of getting them is that they can help you to rebuild your self-esteem and confidence. Treatment can help you to maintain a healthy jaw and a balanced smile, as well.

Options for Treatment

The specialist has many options for you if you do not want to invest in traditional treatment. One option that you have that you can take is the option to undergo Invisalign treatment. Invisalign is a perfect solution if you want your treatment to be discreet. The system consists of a set of plastic aligner that you can remove for teeth cleaning and eating. Other alternative options if you do not want to undergo traditional treatment are options such as lingual braces, the Damon system and ceramic units. Ask your caretaker about the options that are available for you.

Length of Treatment

The length of treatment varies depending on the severity of your problem and your provider’s skill. Some patients have gotten through treatment in less than a year while others have had to go through treatment for up to three years. You can find out much more by scheduling an appointment for assistance today.

“Smile at strangers and you just might change a life.” -Steve Maraboli

smile

The role of a parent is ever-evolving and can never be truly be defined since it can encompass a lot of duties. One of those duties deals with making sure your child has the best smile that he or she can have. This is what a good orthodontist is committed to. Your orthodontist is there to help make this part of your job a little easier in several effective ways.

A Great Smile Matters

Ensuring your child has a great smile is not only good for his or her self-esteem but also positive in the long-run. You may not believe this, but a smile can have the following effects:

  • A person with a great smile is usually seen as trustworthy.
  • People with great smiles, and straight teeth, may have a higher chance of being promoted.
  • A smile with issues like a misaligned jaw or crooked teeth may not have the same effect.

These are just some of the reasons why it is recommended you deal with any of these issues as early as possible. There are many effective routes that can be taken, like the use of braces. It is better to start this type of treatment as early as possible so that your child does not have to deal with any of these issues later in life.

Of course, some parents may not want their children subjected to the issues normally associated with braces. By issues, we are referring to name-calling because children can be a little cruel. You do not have to worry about this since there are other options like Invisalign. This orthodontic apparatus has the same effect on the teeth that braces might have, except no one will be able to tell since you cannot see the invisalign aligners.

smile

Most people who think of braces think of awkward teenagers with an embarrassing smile. However, not many people consider that adults also get orthodontics. Different reasons can keep people from getting braces early in life. When they enter adulthood, the need for orthodontia becomes more pressing. Job positions, confidence and opportunities go hand-in-hand. Those opportunities often come with a great smile.

Orthodontists Fix Smiles

A qualified orthodontist can help fix smiles. Healthy smiles can make a person more confident. A great smile can also make eating easier. Overbites, gaps and crooked teeth can be straightened into an amazing smile with a little time and the correct orthodontia. For adults, that may include invisible orthodontia like invisalign.

Not braces, these clear, removable aligners gradually straighten teeth. Co-workers, friends and family will have no idea that you are wearing them. All they notice is that you seem to smile more readily and- Wow!- you have a beautiful smile. Isn’t that what you want, after all? Since invisalign aligners are removable, it is easy to continue great oral hygiene. There is no trying to floss around metal wires. There are no broken wires poking delicate gums. Just take the aligner out, brush, floss and then replace it. Eat and drink what you want.

Celebrate Your Smile

When you wear invisalign you can go to that wedding or family reunion. Take pictures with that new baby. You never have to worry about photos with a mouthful of metal. “If you smile when you are alone, then you really mean it.” – Andy Rooney

“Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.” – Mother Teresa

mother teresaWhen you let your kids know that they are getting braces, you probably experience some resistance. Kids are often afraid of how they will look with metal on their teeth. Even if they are getting Invisalign, they may still fear the opinions of their friends. Letting them know how a smile connects to love can help to quell these worries.

Kindness

Teach your children that they are unlikely to be the only ones at their schools getting braces in the near future. They probably have friends and classmates who are afraid too. Once they have their braces, encourage them to flash big smiles, especially to these other kids. Your children may be the reason why the other students let go of some of their ideas about visiting the orthodontist.

Inclusion

Your kids are probably afraid that others are going to leave them out after they go to the orthodontist. Explain to your children that anyone who would engage in such a practice is not a real friend anyway. Teach your children how they can use a smile to invite the other children to play with them. Just like adults, kids are generally more often to approach people who look like they want to be approached.

Conversations

Smiling does not just encourage benign play; it helps to expedite conversations. Once your kids have their Invisalign or traditional set of gear, encourage them to strike up conversations with students in their school. They may find that they can form new bonds with these kids, and they may also encourage each other as they go through the experience of visiting the orthodontist on a regular basis.

How Invisalign Gave a Tennis Champ a Champion Smile

Serena Williams is known for her stunning performances on the tennis court. She is also known for her stunning smile. Her abilities as an athlete come from years of practice and dedication. Her smile comes from her use of Invisalign aligners. Using the same treatment, an orthodontist can give you teeth that are equally straight and stunning.

A Perfect Smile for a Perfect Athlete

Serena Williams is ranked No. 1 in women’s singles, with victories at the French Open, Wimbledon and the Olympics. Her talent was recognized early, when she became the highest-ranked tennis player under the age of 10. Unfortunately, her perfection on the tennis court was not matched by her teeth, which were less than perfect. In fact, both Serena and her sister Venus were beset by the need to wear braces.

At the age of 16, Serena and her family discovered Invisalign. These invisible aligners offer the following advantages over conventional braces:

  • They are comfortable to wear
  • They are removable for eating and drinking
  • They allow for easy brushing and flossing

Only two years of treatment gave Serena the teeth that could match the perfection of her playing. This in turn gave her the ability to smile with confidence after every victory on the court.

The Importance of Orthodontic Care

Invisalign treatment is designed to correct teeth that are crooked, crowded or gapped. Custom fit to the wearer, they avoid the appearance and inconvenience of conventional braces. The aligners will be removed over a period of time, allowing each tooth to move into the desired position. The normal period of treatment is between nine and 15 months.

Orthodontic Celebrity Smiles: Nicolas Cage

nicolas cage

When you think of celebrities with great smiles, you think of guys like Tom Cruise and George Clooney, or Nicolas Cage. Nicolas Cage deserves to be on that list because he has something in common with each of those celebrities: All of them have undergone orthodontic procedures. That’s right, Nicolas Cage and a host of other celebrities haven’t always had those white, gleaming, perfectly aligned teeth. Many celebrities have effectively boosted their smile with the help of Invisalign guards, teeth whitening treatments and several other orthodontic treatments.

There is no denying Nicolas Cage is a unique actor who marches to the beat of his own drum. Before shooting the 1984 film “Birdy,” Cage had two teeth pulled to make his character’s role more authentic. His teeth weren’t exactly in great shape before the missing teeth thing, so the loss wasn’t too damaging to his career.

Cage may have regretted the decision to purposely dishevel his choppers if it were not for his orthodontist. Soon after Birdy’s release, Cage’s career gained momentum as he started landing lead roles, and the guy who once treated his teeth as a war token now needed some help.

Over the course of his career Nicolas Cage has had multiple orthodontic treatments and procedures. His first orthodontic treatment involved a veneer implant. After veneers, Cage eventually moved on to braces. He was even spotted sporting silver braces across his lower teeth at the Annual Writers Guild awards in 2003.

After getting straightened out with braces Cage tried teeth whitening treatments. Thanks to the consistent combination of teeth whitening treatments and Invisalign guards, Nicolas Cage’s wide smile has been big, white and dazzling ever since.

How To Maintain Your Braces

bracesOrthodontic braces are generally worn for 18 to 30 months. It is therefore vital for a patient to keep them and their teeth clean in order to prevent massive tooth decay. These days, they can be removable, like Invisalign, or not. Braces, like the traditional metal variety, that have been installed in the patient’s mouth are difficult to clean. Plaque and food can get trapped in the spaces between the wires and brackets and thus cause enamel stains and decay. Food can also react with the metal in them and the bacteria in the mouth to permanently bleach the teeth, producing light spots.

Metal Orthodontics

These are by far the most common type, and many of the rules that apply to them will apply to other varieties. For example, brackets and wires do make it harder to keep one’s teeth clean, for they provide more nooks and crannies for plaque and food particles to hide. Similarly, the wires and brackets can very easily trap food particles.

In the interest of not getting a lot cavities or discolored teeth, it is vital to keep one’s teeth clean. Patients therefore must brush and floss their teeth and use mouthwash. Some experts recommend brushing between the metal and gum twice to make certain of getting everything. Similarly, when flossing, they should floss under the wire.

Water Piks and proxy brushes can be even more effective than dental floss. A proxy brush or tree brush is a small brush designed to go between the teeth. Like dental floss, it can scrape away bacteria colonies and dislodge bits of food. Unlike dental floss, it can also massage the gums. Proxy brushes can be found in drugstores.

There are also foods that patients need to avoid, for they can cause damage. Sticky foods like bubble gum or taffy, for instance can pull wires or even brackets loose. They can also stick to the brackets. Hard foods like popcorns, jerky, ice, some nuts and hard candy can break the wires and loosen the brackets. Crunchy foods like carrots and apples can also damage wires. Hard or crunchy foods that are part of a healthy diet should be cut into small, bite-sized pieces to minimize the risk of damage.

Patients should avoid sweet and/or starchy food and drinks like soda and candy. Such foods can cause gum disease and tooth decay – and the orthodontic apparatus already makes cleaning teeth thoroughly more difficult.

On the other hand, patients should eat soft foods that won’t damage the apparatus, and they should also eat foods with little acid, for they won’t damage the tooth enamel. Examples of low-acid foods include bananas, eggs, milk and seafood. Soft foods include such options as yogurt, pasta, steamed vegetables, soup and chili. Patients can also enjoy soft breads like pancakes, tortillas, muffins and biscuits. Soft meats include bologna, meatball, turkey, and soft-cooked chicken.

Ceramic Orthodontics

This type is designed to be unnoticeable. The brackets, elastic bands and sometimes the wires are made to match the color of the patient’s teeth. It works – but they are prone to staining, and the elastics are especially likely to get stained. Clear elastics are the most vulnerable to stains. No matter how meticulous the patient is, though, they will need to get the elastic bands changed periodically.

As usual, the patient’s orthodontist will strongly urge them to practice good oral hygiene. That means brushing, flossing and using a mouthwash after every meal. Some orthodontists recommend using a WaterPik as well as flossing. Patients should use ordinary toothpaste and avoid whitening toothpaste, for the latter can cause spots on the teeth where the toothbrush couldn’t reach.

Patients who smoke should quit immediately, for smoking can stain both the teeth and the brackets. Some foods can also cause stains. Generally speaking, the foods in question have deep, dark colors. Patients wearing ceramic orthodontics should therefore avoid coffee, berries, red wine, beets, colored candy, soy sauce, soda, and pomegranates.

Lingual Orthodontics

These are also sometimes also called “inside braces.” They are basically metal brackets and wires attached to the backs of the teeth. This has the virtue of keeping them hidden, but it can make cleaning them and the teeth difficult. Some experts recommend using an electric toothbrush to clean the teeth, for it is less likely to miss places. Water Piks and proxy brushes can also be used in lieu of dental floss.

Invisalign

These orthodontics need to be handled a bit differently since they are removable. Basically, the patient has to clean their teeth and aligners separately. They will clean their teeth in the usual fashion by brushing and flossing. The patient should take care to brush and floss their teeth before reinserting their aligners to make sure no food gets trapped between the aligner and the patient’s teeth.

The aligners need to be kept clean so they will remain clear, clean and don’t start to smell. Not cleaning them lets bacteria grow on them. As they are delicate, the patient should take them out when they are eating. In addition, most food and drinks, other than water, can stain the aligners and make them smell.

The patient should never let the aligners dry out, for dry plaque and saliva can encourage bacteria to breed. After taking the aligners out, they should rinse them and soak them in a cleaner. The orthodontist will probably recommend one. Common choices include Retainer Brite, Invisalign Cleaning Crystals and Denture Cleaner.

The patient should also gently clean their aligners with a clear anti-bacterial soap. They should not use toothpaste, since some types can be abrasive, and they must not use colored soaps, for that can stain the aligners.

Orthodontic Celebrity Smiles: Niall Horan

niall horan

If you watch film stars, models, and musicians on TV and magazine photographs, you will notice a celebrity smile, glamour, and unlimited confidence like Niall Horan. But misaligned teeth will prevent you from having similar smiles and glamour. You too can get the smiles you always wish for if you ask for orthodontic celebrity smiles from an orthodontist. Moms whose children are unhappy because of crowded teeth need help from an orthodontist who performs cosmetic surgery using braces and invisalign. A cosmetic orthodontic procedure makes it possible to attain celebrity smiles, boosts self-confidence and improves teeth alignment.

Your Best Orthodontic Celebrity Smile

Misaligned teeth can make you unhappy and undermine your confidence. Your children will not have a perfect social life in school and neighborhood. Orthodontic teeth straightening procedures can make your teeth beautiful and straight. An orthodontic doctor will use traditional metal braces to treat crowded teeth. Both adults and children can receive orthodontic treatment, and the benefits will last a lifetime.

Smile More Using Teeth Aligners

You can find many types of cosmetic braces in clear, non-visible or invisible forms. The teeth aligners orthodontic method is quick, and your teeth are straight within 6 to 18 weeks. The orthodontist will place the aligner at the front and back of your teeth. Using a coil spring and gentle pressure, the orthodontic doctor will push the two bows to position the misaligned teeth into a straighter position. You can remove the aligner during meal time and teeth brushing.

How the Invisalign Straightens Teeth

An invisalign brace does not contain metal or wires. You can wear the clear and invisible brace just as you wear a gum shield over the misaligned teeth. The custom-made aligners will fit your teeth, but you may require an aligner change every two weeks. The orthodontic service provider may recommend 18-36 aligners to get your teeth into the right position for the entire treatment period.
